Safety Switches

There are three safety switches on the printer: Two Hood-Closed sensors and one presence sensor on the back panel. Photos and effects of tripping these sensors are listed below.

Hood-Closed Sensors - Opening the Hood during printing or certain maintenance procedures will trip these magnetic sensors, causing a print job to abort and the motion of the printer to cease. If the Hood is open before a print job begins, this will prevent the print job from starting. Opening the Hood during maintenance procedures that require a closed hood will cause the procedure to abort.

Back-Panel Presence Sensor - Removing the Back Panel during printing will trip this sensor, causing the print job to abort and the motion of the printer to cease. If the panel is removed before a print job begins, this will prevent the print job from starting. In the picture at the left, the back panel has been made translucent to show the location of the sensor.
