Inspect and Clean Non Food Zones and Access Panels

Frequency: Yearly

NOTE: It is recommended to perform this procedure during your service provider's annual preventative-maintenance visit, in case any assistance is needed in removing/reinstalling printer components.

CAUTION: Before performing any preventative-maintenance procedures, unless a procedure specifically calls for the printer to be turned on, power the Printer down according to the section Shut Down Printer.

  1. Use a flathead screwdriver or a coin to remove the two thumb screws on the lower-back panel. Set the screws aside for reinstallation.

  1. Remove the lower-back panel and sanitize it with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution. Sanitize underneath the chassis on the back of the machine in the same way, as seen below.

  1. Inspect power cord for any signs of damage.

  1. Check all areas inside the back panel for powder, binder leaks, and other particulates. Open the filter door and check in all visible areas. If there is any evidence of binder leaking from the service panel seams or frame, power down the machine and contact your service provider.

  1. Remove the upper-back panel by loosening the captive thumb screws and pulling it out from the bottom.

  1. Clean the panel surfaces shown at the right with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution. Sanitize underneath the lid on the back of the machine in the same way, as seen below.

  1. Remove the left panel from the printer by sliding it to the left to free the tab, and then tilting the panel away until it can be lifted off.

  1. Clean the panel surfaces shown at the right and below with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution.

  1. Remove the right panel from the printer by sliding it to the right to free the tab, and then tilting the panel away until it can be lifted off.

  1. Remove the touch screen by pushing up on the tabs underneath (see below) and pulling up and out on the touch-screen housing. Unplug both cables and set the touch screen/housing aside. Clean the panel surfaces shown below with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution. Clean the touch screen and housing itself in the same manner.

  1. Remove the front panel by loosening the captive thumb screws on both sides and pulling it out and off.

  1. Clean the panel surfaces shown at the right and below with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution.

  1. Ensure that all components removed and sterilized in this procedure have had ample time to thoroughly dry.
  2. Reinstall the front panel by sliding it forward and ensuring that it lines up with the protruding features (see below) on either side of the printer. Flip the panel up and secure it in place with the captive thumb screws.

  1. Reinstall the touch screen by plugging the cables back in, and then pushing the touch screen in and down to snap it back into place.

  1. To Reinstall the left and right skins:
    1. Slide the holes on the bottoms of the panels over the posts on the machine.

    2. Push the panel in, and then toward the front of the printer to engage the back tabs and lock the panels in place.

  1. To reinstall the upper-back panel:
 
  1. Insert the top of the panel into the slot, as shown at the right. Then push down on the bottom until the panel falls into place.

  1. Secure the panel in place by tightening the captive thumb screws.

  1. To reinstall the lower back panel:
 
  1. Slide the holes on the bottom of the panel over the posts on the machine.

  1. Secure the panel with the thumb screws, removed earlier, on either side.

  1. The last thing you will clean is inside the printer hood's interior panel. To do this, first remove the four screws from the panel.

  1. Remove the panel and sanitize it with a clean, dry cloth and your sanitizing solution. Allow the panel to dry thoroughly before reinstalling it in the machine.

TIP: When removing and reinstalling the panel, take care around the wires on the left side of the hood, as seen below.

  1. Reinstall the hood panel with the four screws removed earlier.

This cleaning procedure is now complete.
