Joining Application

Accura® Bond and Accura® Patch are UV curable post processing materials designed to join multi-part assemblies together.  It is typical for SLA patterns to be sectioned into smaller sections which fit within the SLA build area. These materials are ideal for joining casting part sections as well as all other non-casting SLA sectioned parts.  After curing, the resultant joint is strong and can be sanded smooth to match the surrounding surfaces.

 

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • 100 -200 Watt UV SPOT Curing Light (320nM-500)
  • Loctite CL15 UV Wand System (Recommended)
  • UV glasses
  • Respirator (for sanding parts)
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Sanding block
  • 80-150 grit sandpaper
  • Paper towels

 

  1. Apply a small bead of material the length of a workable joined area.

NOTE: Cap all unused syringes to enure the longevity of the Accura® Bond and Accura® Patch material.

  1. Slowly smooth the bead of material flush with the joined parts.

  1. Using the UV cure wand, cure the entire Accura® Bond or Accura® Patch applied material using a circular back and forth motion for  approximately 5-7 seconds.

Note:  Some UV Cure systems may take  longer to cure than others .

  1. For most applications, start with 80 grit sandpaper and step down in grit until you reach 220 grit for a smooth surface finish. Depending on your application, you may need to continue stepping down to finer grit sandpaper to achieve the  desired surface finish.

  1. Using can-air or compressed air, remove any sanding debris that is present.
