Filling Application

Accura® Bond and Accura® Patch are materials designed to use on printed SLA QuickCast parts to fill and seal vent and drain holes.  It can also be used with all 3D Systems Accura materials to repair cracks on patterns that are damaged, chipped or have other surface  defects. Once cured, the material is hard and adhered with the SLA printed part. The Accura® Bond or Accura® Patch material can be sanded to match the surrounding surface.

 

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • 100 -200 Watt UV SPOT Curing Light (320nM-500)
  • Loctite CL15 UV Wand System (Recommended)
  • UV glasses
  • Respirator (for sanding parts)
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Sanding block
  • 80-150 grit sandpaper
  • Paper towels

 

  1. Using 80 grit sandpaper, begin lightly  sanding the surrounding area around the hole(s) that will be patched. A light scuff is all is needed to prep the area.

  1. Using can-air or compressed air, remove any sanding debris that is present.

  1. Lightly compress the plunger in the syringe and apply a small amount of material slightly larger than the targeted hole.

NOTE: Cap all unused syringes to enure the longevity of the Accura® Patch or Accura® Bond material.

  1. Using the UV cure wand, cure the entire bond material using a circular back and forth motion for approximately 5-7 seconds.

Note: Some UV Cure systems may take longer to cure than others.

  1. Lightly sand the cured hole until an even surface is formed. Start at 80-220 grit, go to a finer grit to achieve desired surface smoothness.
